awol

Hello, I am alive. Partly dead (rather sick) but alive. I promise to return the first of next week with another This (Three) Weeks' Eats, in addition to...DRUM ROLL...new living room decor in the form of burlap and lace check this pin for a sneak AND a quick laundry room organization soln (that's short for solution in Mathematics proof language; my life has been absorbed in such that, there exists, for all, sums, factorials, greater than, less than, blah, blah, blah which in turn I believe is the true source of my three day MIA couch coma).

Just a note: CLEMSON BEAT AUBURN, best day (thus far) of my college career! Which may be replaced with Clemson Beating FSU Saturday? Which will also be the day Gib and Gab are reunited, woohoo!

As I prepare for this event I struggle with the idea to Game-Face or not—Game Faces are the awesome little Tiger Paw tattoos you paste to your face and only can remove, without damaging your skin, with scotch tape. I have participated in this tradition for every game in the past five years, up until last Saturday when CLEMSON BEAT AUBURN (yes they are the National Champions and we end their 17 game winning streak) in which I misplaced my 6 packages (they come 4 paws to a pack and we have 7 home games; you can never be too prepared). But nonetheless my stupidstition (which I'm not really stupidstitious but in this matter what if my wearing a Game Face affects the game?) raises uneasiness to resume our 5 minute pre-tailgating tradition that usually occurs with a bottle of water and Petey (Beeb's boy) properly placing our paw in the perfect position on our cheek bone to flatter our fantastic faces (that was a lot of Fs and Ps) such difficult decisions to be made.

Finally before the possible-new-best-day-of-my-college-career Saturday and the reuniting of Gib and Gab, woohoo; tomorrow is LION KING 3D! I'm so pumped for this as I have an unhealthy obsession with animated films! It is going to blow my 22 year young mind and I hope it can reach the experience I first had upon my watching good ole Timon, Pumbaa and Simba sawying to Hakuna Matata it means no worries (in 2D mehhh) back in 1994, yeah 5 years young then and the first time I feel in love with JTT (Jonathan Taylor Thomas, at least his voice which actually feel in the middle of his Home Improvement days; where in the world is he by the way!?), I don't know if the new can compare! But I'm certain, on my behalf, there will be singing. And there will be tears; if you didn't cry when Mufsa dies, then you have no heart.

23 before 23

Oh Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson would be proud of me for this one. As one of my I-could-watch-it-a-million-times movies, the Bucket List inspired a lot of people to get off their derrières and do the things in life they always said they wanted to before they "kicked the bucket." This is not one of those lists; well not really. I do have a bucket list, however it is much more complex (in thought, abstract in concept) and is always being added to and deducted from. This list, that I actually started sometime back, is the more detailed things I would like to do in the next year of my life (actually 270 days, because I have been 22 for 95 days now, woah!). I feel like I am at quite a time in my life. A time where things are ever changing and I hope this list of 23 will help me successfully make those changes in my life; moving on and learning from the past, living in and appreciating the present, all while embracing the future and what is to come.

Sing Karaoke in a crowded bar
I by no means am a shy person. On the other hand, I, by no means am a good singer. Singing for me is limited to the shower and the car or in moments of inebriation, which I'm sure I also will be needed for this to happen. I've thought of what song I'd dare to disgrace. AC/DC You Shook Me All Night Long is not only one of my favorite songs but also a crowd-pleaser, however also in the top running are those classics that everyone knows all the words to; All my Rowdy Friends, Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox or maybe even a little Friends in Low Places for reminiscence.
Dance with a complete stranger
I believe dancing opens your soul to the world, allowing you to be uninhibited while being vulnerable. The later can be unnerving, for most, but for me it's exhilarating. Dancing with a complete stranger further adds vulnerability, so naturally I want to venture into that territory.
Purchase a cruiser bike
With my plans of moving to a slightly larger city at the first of the year, (big girl world and a big girl job let's hope) I will need to be more financially conscious. However, with this I do not want to neglect my exploration of my new area, thus a bike for a nice Sunday ride to the Farmer's Market.
Purchase a old-school Polaroid Camera
These are just precious and I really believe would create awesome pieces of art. My only concern is finding film for a reasonable price.
Volunteer
The importance of giving back to one's community is often over looked by my 20-25 year age range. The business of school, jobs,

About Gab

Im so excited that my first post on our new blog is all about my best friend! Who, other than me, would be able to go on and on about how amazing and awesome she is. I am so excited to begin documenting our crafty, homemade meal, and crazy frugal lives as we write!

And now...About my Gab:

Achieving all of her dreams, while living life large, Gab is a fun loving, slightly geeky Southern Belle. After graduating high school at the top of her class, as senior class president, yearbook editor, and “biggest mouth”, Gab set her sights on her dream school of eight years, Clemson University, which has consumed her life for the past four. Gab will soon be a wonderful high school teacher, and her future students better watch out; this Math instructor is all about some Calculus projects, including making students at her internship complete rap-video parodies, which fits Gab's movie and music buffness! Gab has certainly grown in her Clemson years. From working at a children’s gymnastics center, to volunteering at a local hospital and being a big sister at the Upstate Big Brother’s Big Sister Organization, Gab is filling her time with school and her community. In her free time, the little that there is, Gab does some even more indulgent activities. On any random day, you can often find Gab and Amos, her beloved canine companion going for a run around campus and listening to her classic rock or acoustic music. Amos, Gab’s
extremely well behaved two and a half year old lab-australian shepard mix, is one loyal pup, as he is Gab’s favorite secret keeper. Her most recent hobby, art, including painting and photography, is the only thing in her life with which she has patience and about which is not obsessive-compulsive. Because of her constant need for structure, cleanliness, and stability, in addition to several negative past experiences, Gab tends to be wary of many. With that said, those in her life who have shown their loyalty in all circumstances, particularly despite her meticulous ways, are fully cherished as Gab will do any and everything for those around her. From driving hours over-night to hold the hand of a friend as she gives birth, to planning surprise birthday parties and bridal showers for the multiple weddings she’s in, Gab enjoys seeing those she loves truly happy. In her alter-ego-event-planning-lifestyle (she really missed her calling) her right-hand-woMan and mother is known to be “the kindest, most self-less person,” as taken from a recent comment. Having a very strong marriage, Brenda is rarely found, physically, without Gab’s dad, Philip, and Gab is never found, emotionally, without both her parents. From her mother she has inherited her social butterfly personality and dedication to help everyone and from her father she has gained a hardworking hands-on drive and perseverance to stand up against wrongdoing. Having these shared characteristics with her folks causes naturally strong connections yet intense head-butting situations. As Gab continues to learn and grow from her experiences, she enjoys venturing out with friends downtown Clemson most weekends, where Karaoke, live acoustic music, shagging, and guys wearing flannel are plentiful, which are all Gab’s favorites. Of all the things Gab is, she is an exceptional friend, and as we grow and change and cross many different paths in life, we grow closer; if growing closer to your best friend is even possible.
